Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofasical Release is a manual therapy approach commonly used by chiropractors to treat soft tissue injuries. It involves applying controlled force to soft tissue while moving it in specific directions to release tension and break up scar tissue. Myofascial Release is a hands-on treatment commonly used to treat overuse conditions such as muscle strains, tendonitis, and nerve entrapments.

Overuse conditions occur when a person repeatedly performs the same motion, putting excessive stress on a particular area of the body. This can cause small micro-tears in the affected tissue, leading to inflammation, pain, weakness, and decreased function. Overuse injuries can result from poor posture, inadequate warm-up or cool-down, improper technique, and insufficient rest. Examples of overuse conditions include tennis elbow, runner’s knee, and golfer’s elbow.

During an Myofasical Release treatment, the chiropractor will first perform a physical exam to assess the cause of your symptoms and identify the specific tissues that need to be treated. They will then apply manual pressure to the affected area and have you move the body part in specific ways while continuing to apply pressure. This process will be repeated several times until the chiropractor determines that the tension has been released.

Patients often report a significant improvement in their symptoms after just a few sessions, and the treatment is typically painless.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is centered on restoring proper joint motion in the spine, arms, and legs through gentle manipulation or adjustments. By freeing up stuck joints, chiropractic manipulation can help restore full range of motion and optimize muscle and nerve function in the affected area. We customize adjustments to meet each patient’s unique needs, delivering hands-on treatment or using an adjusting instrument for more subtle changes as preferred. At Rockfish Chiropractic, we focus on delivering relief as quickly as possible, tailoring our treatment plans to the individual’s goals and needs.

The number of visits required for a complete treatment plan varies widely depending on the individual’s age, health, and problem. After completing the treatment plan and achieving their goals, patients may choose to continue with a preventive maintenance program to maintain their good health. This is similar to how regular car maintenance keeps a vehicle running smoothly on the road.

Many athletes use chiropractic care to optimize their health and improve their performance. While the chiropractic adjustment is a powerful tool when used appropriately, it’s not necessary or suitable for every condition. If your condition can benefit from joint manipulation, however, chiropractic care is one of the best options available.
